Does a Pilonidal cyst have to rupture? Or can it just go away?

Day 1-went to the doctor.he perscribed me two antibiotics.(pill and cream) Day 2-it got bigger,worse,and more painful with two white heads. Day 3-alot less pain and looks smaller. Does it have to pop or can antibiotics just make it go away?
